Half way through February. Thankful for the snowy winter weather. It makes winter so much more tolerable. Makes getting outside more enjoyable.

I’ve been taking it slow since the new year. But have managed to sew up #buckthornbackpack and a #buckthorntote bag. The backpack was a kit from a @stashfabricvt class I took. The tote I dyed cotton twill with walnut and then modified with iron. Inside fabric from a stash of fabric I’ve had for several years.

Lots of things in the process.

January
Halfway thru January. Each day the daylight increases and My energy levels are starting to rise.

Spent the first week and half recovering from an infection. Slowly getting back to finishing projects from the end of the year.

1. Finished this #marlosweater from a workshop in November @littlebirdsewingstudio dyed with @farmandfolk book ’Quilt Alchemy’ recipe for black. Made in heavyweight French terry. Will sew more in a lighter weight cotton rib knit for spring. A fairly easy pattern to make.
2. Over dyed this top in the same recipe as my sweater.
3. Shades of gallnut, ferrous sulfate and logwood. And top left, walnut and ferrous sulfate.
4. Dipping into inky black dye pot.
5. Finishing up my #marlosweater

Easing into the new year.

Lots of good family time over the holidays.

As the new year unfolds I’m now in the late fall of my life nearing the winter season. I’ve never really made resolutions for the new year but, I do have goals and intentions.

Working on taking care of and being gentle with myself.

Looking forward to another year of exploration and learning.

Every day is a gift. Thankful for the gift of each new day.

This year all vendors fee will be donated to the Richmond food shelf and the silent action benefits Toys for kids. Come out and support your local artisans, crafters and makers while also supporting our local community. Also don’t forget to check out the Richmond library book sale.

I’ve been busy the last several weeks working on new botanical printed and naturally dyed textiles.

Short, dark, moody days, amazing skies, mid way into November. It’s a season of letting go. Making the most of the time imbuing the essence of leaves and flowers on fabric, sewing and brewing up dye pots.
Keeping busy.

1. Early morning sunrise
2. Full Beaver moon
3. Project bag. Pattern from Contemporary Patchwork
4. Mid 1970’s area sewing machine my husband gave me while dating many, many moons ago.
5 -13. Botanically printed linen and cotton.
14 -16. Eucalyptus on woven wool shawl, wool jersey and silk noil.
17. - 19. Cutch dyed yarn, cotton fabric, cotton tee and cotton cardigan.
20. Madder root dye bath from 3 year old madder root I grew and harvested this fall.
